Pins of the Week

Life has been nothing short of CrAzY lately with the end of preschool for one, end of a soccer season, opening of our beach club and finally...end of the school year for my daughter tomorrow.  Woo Hoo!  I need to get on a better schedule than we've been on.  We've been burning the candle at both ends for a few weeks now running from activity to activity, staying up way too late enjoying the weather and sunlight, visiting with friends and it has caught up.   We even had an impromptu play date in our PJ's yesterday.   Needless to say, I ended up sick last week with an ear infection and so forth and finally feel better this week.

So, with that said, I have been very negligent of this blog.  I have been very busy with teacher gift order of beach bags and other bags and I am soooo grateful that the shop is nearly sold out.  I need to re-stock soon, but still have a few more orders to fill.  Thank you to all who have supported my business...we're nearing a year already and I'll keep you posted on a big celebration sale in July.

I thought I'd do a quick "Pins of the Week" post today before I run to my daughter's school to deliver some teacher gifts (homemade bags  and zippered pouches and gift cards of course).
(and yes those are play handcuffs in the background...lol)

So here you have it...I've even been neglecting Pinterest if you can believe that.  The nerve.

CRAFTASTIC

We love to make friendship bracelets in the summer or really in any down time we have.   I recently found a very cool kit with these cardboard wheels that you use as a guide to make all sorts of really neat bracelets.   I thought this is super fun too and simple directions.   Last summer as one of my very first blog posts HERE I mentioned that we were knee deep in bracelet making at the beach.

CRAFTASTIC- FATHER'S DAY

I had been planning on doing an entire post dedicated to Father's Day ideas, but since time is slipping by...I thought I'd just share some of the 'Tip Junkie's' great homemade ideas.   We are working on finishing up our crafts today in time to celebrate our favorite daddy this weekend!

FOR THE HOME

I have been pinning tons of stripes in rooms lately and I guess I really want some in my house.  I think I'm sold on this idea for my daughter's bathroom that I truly despise right now.  We have not painted 1 wall since moving in 6 years ago this July.  Oh, wait, that's not true...my daughter and I painted her room last year.  Besides that though, not 1 wall has changed because when we moved in we were happy with the colors and I was soon expecting the rambunctious boy I now have and expected many dinged and chipped walls.  I think it's finally time to get rid of the peach bathroom (no offense to those of you who like peach) and bring in a more beachy feel to my daughter's bathroom.

FOR THE KIDDOS

A step by step guide to turn an ordinary sock into a teddy bear.  So cute.  I love up cycling too!   I think this is a great rainy day project for us this summer.  I'm hoping the past week's weather is no indication of our summer weather to come or we'll be making tons of sock animals...lol

GREAT TIP

No explanation necessary other than...who wouldn't want one?  I do not like putting the DEET sprays on myself or my children so this is perfect.

RECIPE

Oh my this is GOOD!  We had my in laws for dinner a few weeks ago and decided to grill outside (Mother Nature of course had to ruin it for us).... I digress.  We decided on grilled fish, grilled zucchini and this Fiesta Lime Rice.  SOOOO GOOD and SUPER simple.  We will definitely be making this one again...OFTEN!

Pins of the Week...

It's been a month since I've done a "Pins of the Week" post
and I have some really fun pins to share.

CRAFTASTIC

This one is more SEW-TASTIC, but I had to share this adorable onesie I found
for St. Patty's on pinterest.  I duplicated it for my own little guy!

Here is my own little leprechaun in his big boy version....
What a ham!

FOR THE HOME

I have absolutely no plans of re-doing anything in our home right now, but I just love to look at home decor and home re-do projects.  Here is a fun painting idea I love.  Some day...   I seem to have a thing for stripes lately!

My daughter's first big girl room had stripes and I adored them.....and that sweet little girl!   Now she's all grown up with a grown up girl's room..sniff sniff!

Here's a better shot of her adorable bedding that I still have because I just can't part with it.

RECIPES

Here is one I'm excited to try.  Now that the weather is warming, I've been pinning tons of salad type recipes and this one looks great!
spinach, black beans, cucumber, tomato, avocado, lime juice, pepper, cilantro and a dash of olive oil...yum!

FOR THE HOME

We are headed to Disney at the end of April and I'm looking for fun, comfortable outfits that I still think look cute since we always take tons of pictures.  The key is that they have to be cool for the weather and comfy too.  Here are a few I love.

Always need a sweatshirt for the cooler evenings...minus the watch and glasses.

And this could be good for the flight with a light sweater.

GREAT TIP

I found this last week and I loved it.  Not sure how I never did this before or thought of it myself.  I always used the receipt from the prescription to do something similar, but why not write on the bottle itself?   Well, just Friday my daughter went on antibiotics for a throat infection so I'm using this idea!  So easy!

It's Game Time!

With the nation's big game this upcoming Sunday, so many are planning parties and sweet treats to enjoy while watching the game.  I don't know why Superbowl Sunday has become synonymous with eating.  It's strange to me.  We don't throw huge parties for the World Series (or do we and I just never knew?).  Anyway, my thought is that it's another occasion to party in an otherwise dull time of year.

Regardless, I'm on board with the partying and here are some of my favorite ideas for both sweet and savory treats for your viewing pleasure.

Sweet treats...

Chocolate cupcakes with a cookies n' cream filling topped with a football truffle...really?  That's amazing!

Or these beautiful cupcakes...grass and all!  Also, topped with a football truffle!

Chocolate covered strawberry footballs...no longer for only your fancy affairs.

Or how about the easiest...football shaped brownies.  So great!

And maybe you'll choose just one healthy option.....and oh so fitting for the occasion...

Savory treats...

Bean dip anyone?  Or this could be a layered Mexican dip with the beans on top instead of inside.

How about some wings?

And these deviled eggs are just so cute!

Or how about a molded cheese football...who wouldn't love that?!

And this is my favorite...probably because I love pizza so much.

Lastly, I have to show you these over-the-top and amazing ideas for dips/spreads to celebrate
with at your Superbowl Party...

No good soiree is complete without a great tablescape....at least I feel that way...lol
Check out these creative table displays.   Of course all food tastes better when it's displayed beautifully too!

I love everything about this fun, festive table...especially the pom poms.  It brings back memories from my cheering days.

And how about this creativity?   A turf tablecloth and a goal post from PVC....so great!  This was for a 1st birthday, but could easily become a Giants table ( I mean Superbowl table)!

And this last one....so great.  They even wrapped the kids' juice boxes in football paper.

I hope your team wins (GO Giants!) and I hope you enjoy Superbowl Sunday.  Whether you are a football fan or not, use it as an excuse to have some great snacks!

Pins of the Week...

I have been working like a DOG cleaning my kitchen and organizing like crazy so I can add some pictures of my "after" to my post I've been working on for Operation OrGaNiZaTiOn for this week.  But....I'm not done yet...a few more days!  I want to make sure that while I'm sharing ideas of how to organize and de-clutter that I myself am doing just that and remaining accountable to what I'm sharing.  SO....until then.

Here are my Favorite Pins of the Week

CRAFTASTIC

My kids are DYING for some snow here.   Last year we were up to our eyeballs in snow and this year...NONE!  So I think we'll try this craft.  I know I said I wasn't going to do any until Valentine's because we are working sooo hard on our Valentine's this year, but...this looks like fun!   And, I have all of the supplies except the baby food jars but those I can easily pick up!

(source)

FOR THE HOME

I adore this built in bench in the kitchen.  Maybe someday.  Right now I'd have to do a complete overhaul of my existing kitchen to work this in.   Maybe my husband will give it to me for Valentine's Day...ha.  A girl can dream!

FOR THE KIDDOS

I was so excited to find this one on my friend Danielle's blog last year and so glad to find it again this year on pinterest because I need it now more than ever.  We recently upgraded my son into a booster from the traditional 5-point harness seat and every time he falls asleep he looks like I drugged him because he is totally slumped over in his seat.   I'm starting this project asap!

FASHION FIND

I'm not sure what it is about these VERY expensive socks that I love so much, but they are so darn pretty.  I am admittedly weird about textures in socks so I probably wouldn't even wear them, but they are just too cute not to share.  And if you invest in them...let me know if they are soft!

JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT

Just think this is so cool...a mixed paper journal :)

RECIPES

I haven't tried this one yet, but I plan on picking up the ingredients next week to try it.  I've made something similar in the summer, but it did not have asparagus in it.  I'm hoping my daughter will enjoy this too because tomatoes and asparagus are her 2 favorites and she LOVES cheese...I think I'll add feta.

Pins of the Week

Tomorrow starts my 2012 Organization Series.  I know many people and many blogs out there have already begun on this resolution, but I wanted to make sure I had all of my supplies and/or ideas together before sharing!

Before I start the organization palooza though...I wanted to share some of my favorites from this week.  I haven't done this is awhile because I was so focused on only Christmas ideas so it's fun to get back to it.  Hope you enjoy!

CRAFTASTIC

I have so few going on right now believe it or not because I am in full-blown home organization mode and re-stocking my shop.   Other than that, we are saving ourselves for when we begin our Valentine's Day crafting.....only a few more weeks!

I did think this was cute, but not going to happen this year.  After last week's snowflakes and felt pine cone, I'm officially taking a break from crafting for a few weeks.  Did I really just say that?  Yikes!

My kids are dreaming of snow.  I even caught my 5 year old son on the floor practicing his snow angels.  So...this could get you in the mood for snow if you are not getting any in your area either.  I personally am LOVING not having it.  I hate the wet, yucky footprints everywhere.

FOR THE HOME

Did I mention yet that I'm going to have some organization ideas for your home and life this week?  Oh, right....only 3 times so far.  I love this idea for your home too.

We have a wall of pictures and a great hand painted plaque in our family room, but this one is just great.  I just may have to consider re-decorating my only hallway.

Our wall....

And what I love most about theirs...all of the pictures are perfectly straight unlike my own.  lol

FOR THE KIDDOS

I adore these ideas for the "Angry Birds" birthday theme.  So fun.  I see so many kids playing Angry Birds in waiting rooms, at gymnastics, in the car, as well as the adults that play too.   We love it as a time-killer and we also love the actual game we got for Christmas...so much fun.  We got it at Barnes & Nobles but I'm sure you can find it other places too.

Check out this party....no details spared!

FASHION FIND

Don't ask why I love this...I have no nails and I hate pink.  But...this reminds me of my youth with the wide whale laces in this shade.  So fun!

JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT
(a new category)

My book club did a "Favorite Things Party" at our December get-together and it was so fun!  I suggested we do it every month, but I think they thought I was nuts :)   I love getting ideas from other people (hence my obsession with pinterest) and I especially love getting them from people I actually know!

Here is where we got the idea...

Ours was not nearly as fancy and much smaller, but we had so much fun.  Three of us even bought the same gift to give...great minds think alike!    We each bought 3 gifts up to $5 in value.  I went home with a travel mug, nail polish and hand lotion.  LOVE!

In the process of finding this idea, I found Erin from 'Sunny Side Up'.  Not that I actually met or even introduced myself, but her blog is one of my new favorites.  She thrives on organization...I think we have a few things in common to say the least.

RECIPES
While this picture does not make it look so appealing, this recipe is GREAT!  I made it last week and since it has 2 major pluses (gluten-free and crock pot)....it's a KEEPER!

Split Pea Soup
I made mine far more chunky and left out the bacon at the end.  I do not like thin soups so I kept mine very hearty!  So yummy!

QUOTE TO LIVE BY

Oh how true this is...that little stinker has me wrapped around his finger...

And this is the song I sang to my daughter every night when she was a baby (thank god she didn't know how terrible I sounded).  I adore this poster...you can find it here along with some other gems.
Happy Pinning!
