Pins of the Week

Life has been nothing short of CrAzY lately with the end of preschool for one, end of a soccer season, opening of our beach club and finally...end of the school year for my daughter tomorrow.  Woo Hoo!  I need to get on a better schedule than we've been on.  We've been burning the candle at both ends for a few weeks now running from activity to activity, staying up way too late enjoying the weather and sunlight, visiting with friends and it has caught up.   We even had an impromptu play date in our PJ's yesterday.   Needless to say, I ended up sick last week with an ear infection and so forth and finally feel better this week.

So, with that said, I have been very negligent of this blog.  I have been very busy with teacher gift order of beach bags and other bags and I am soooo grateful that the shop is nearly sold out.  I need to re-stock soon, but still have a few more orders to fill.  Thank you to all who have supported my business...we're nearing a year already and I'll keep you posted on a big celebration sale in July.

I thought I'd do a quick "Pins of the Week" post today before I run to my daughter's school to deliver some teacher gifts (homemade bags  and zippered pouches and gift cards of course).
(and yes those are play handcuffs in the background...lol)

So here you have it...I've even been neglecting Pinterest if you can believe that.  The nerve.

CRAFTASTIC

We love to make friendship bracelets in the summer or really in any down time we have.   I recently found a very cool kit with these cardboard wheels that you use as a guide to make all sorts of really neat bracelets.   I thought this is super fun too and simple directions.   Last summer as one of my very first blog posts HERE I mentioned that we were knee deep in bracelet making at the beach.

CRAFTASTIC- FATHER'S DAY

I had been planning on doing an entire post dedicated to Father's Day ideas, but since time is slipping by...I thought I'd just share some of the 'Tip Junkie's' great homemade ideas.   We are working on finishing up our crafts today in time to celebrate our favorite daddy this weekend!

FOR THE HOME

I have been pinning tons of stripes in rooms lately and I guess I really want some in my house.  I think I'm sold on this idea for my daughter's bathroom that I truly despise right now.  We have not painted 1 wall since moving in 6 years ago this July.  Oh, wait, that's not true...my daughter and I painted her room last year.  Besides that though, not 1 wall has changed because when we moved in we were happy with the colors and I was soon expecting the rambunctious boy I now have and expected many dinged and chipped walls.  I think it's finally time to get rid of the peach bathroom (no offense to those of you who like peach) and bring in a more beachy feel to my daughter's bathroom.

FOR THE KIDDOS

A step by step guide to turn an ordinary sock into a teddy bear.  So cute.  I love up cycling too!   I think this is a great rainy day project for us this summer.  I'm hoping the past week's weather is no indication of our summer weather to come or we'll be making tons of sock animals...lol

GREAT TIP

No explanation necessary other than...who wouldn't want one?  I do not like putting the DEET sprays on myself or my children so this is perfect.

RECIPE

Oh my this is GOOD!  We had my in laws for dinner a few weeks ago and decided to grill outside (Mother Nature of course had to ruin it for us).... I digress.  We decided on grilled fish, grilled zucchini and this Fiesta Lime Rice.  SOOOO GOOD and SUPER simple.  We will definitely be making this one again...OFTEN!

Pins of the Week

This post should really be titled "Pins of the Last Few Weeks" because I haven't shared one in some time now. I have so many fun pins and ideas to share.   A funny story first, my daughter came home yesterday and told me that in her science class they were making fairy gardens and the teacher got the idea from Pinterest.  She asked the class if anyone's mom was on Pinterest and my daughter said quote, "I was the only one who raised my hand.  Isn't that crazy?  I cannot believe what they are missing!"   A chip off the old block...HA!

SEW-TASTIC

I love these homemade hooded towels.  When my little guy was born, a friend made one for me and it's my favorite towel for him now because it fits so well.  He has grown out of his baby hooded towels (although I secretly love them on him when his little buns hang out the back...lol) but he still wants the hooded part that a big person towel does not provide.  This is the best solution if you don't want to invest in the expensive ones.

FOR THE HOME

Chevron is EVERYWHERE right now.  From fabric to fashion...even nail design and I love it!   Here are a few of my favs...

.

adorable...
a beach bag I made...it sold, but more to come

But...how about an accent wall in the home.  LOVE this idea.

FOR THE KIDDOS

My 10 year old has one more tooth to lose and it's crazy loose.  My little guy has not even started so I think this could be really fun for her last and his first.  Take a picture of your child sleeping and go to the website linked below the picture and have them insert a picture of the tooth fairy.  FUN!

Pins of the Week...

It's been a month since I've done a "Pins of the Week" post
and I have some really fun pins to share.

CRAFTASTIC

This one is more SEW-TASTIC, but I had to share this adorable onesie I found
for St. Patty's on pinterest.  I duplicated it for my own little guy!

Here is my own little leprechaun in his big boy version....
What a ham!

FOR THE HOME

I have absolutely no plans of re-doing anything in our home right now, but I just love to look at home decor and home re-do projects.  Here is a fun painting idea I love.  Some day...   I seem to have a thing for stripes lately!

My daughter's first big girl room had stripes and I adored them.....and that sweet little girl!   Now she's all grown up with a grown up girl's room..sniff sniff!

Here's a better shot of her adorable bedding that I still have because I just can't part with it.

RECIPES

Here is one I'm excited to try.  Now that the weather is warming, I've been pinning tons of salad type recipes and this one looks great!
spinach, black beans, cucumber, tomato, avocado, lime juice, pepper, cilantro and a dash of olive oil...yum!

FOR THE HOME

We are headed to Disney at the end of April and I'm looking for fun, comfortable outfits that I still think look cute since we always take tons of pictures.  The key is that they have to be cool for the weather and comfy too.  Here are a few I love.

Always need a sweatshirt for the cooler evenings...minus the watch and glasses.

And this could be good for the flight with a light sweater.

GREAT TIP

I found this last week and I loved it.  Not sure how I never did this before or thought of it myself.  I always used the receipt from the prescription to do something similar, but why not write on the bottle itself?   Well, just Friday my daughter went on antibiotics for a throat infection so I'm using this idea!  So easy!

Pins of the Week...

I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day and spent the day with those closest to your heart.  Whether you're married, single, a mother or not, it's a wonderful day to celebrate those around you that are important to you.   While flowers and candy are great, I think that just demonstrating your love and sharing some kind words are the best part of the day.  Sappy, I know, but my absolute best gift ever was a note from my husband about the "Top 10" things he loves about me.  I'm not great at accepting verbal compliments, but this was very, very special and I have re-read it so many times since Tuesday.   And my children, well they are rejoicing in tons of candy and treats too!

I haven't shared any of my favorite pins lately because I was focusing on the "10 Days of Valentine's Day", but I have some great ideas to share.   If you're not already on Pinterest, I highly recommend it.  It's my new search engine for anything for my home, kids, crafting and business.   But, as I've told others, WATCH OUT!  It's crazy addicting!

Here are my tops for the last few weeks...

CRAFTASTIC

To be totally honest, I'm a little crafted out right now after Valentine's Day.  I can't wait to take down my decor and put up the next, but I'm spent.  It's funny how Tuesday I was so into Valentine's Day, but by the time Wednesday rolled around...I loathed looking at my Valentine's decor.

Anyway, if we were crafting around here...this would be on top of our list.  I love handmade toys and especially ones that can keep your little ones busy.  We just booked a trip for Disney this Spring so I'm definitely in the market for some cheap things to keep them busy on the plane and this one is so fun!

FOR THE HOME

I have been wanting to change my bedroom for awhile and had my heart set on yellow and grey...but, this picture has possibly changed my mind.  My bedroom is almost this exact color now and I LOVE the all white bedding.  And that chandelier.  It makes it such a warm room.  Hmmm...decisions!

RECIPES
Yum...these were so easy and sooo good!
Stuffed Zucchini

FASHION FIND
Ummmm...YES!  That's all I can say to these beauties.

JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT

These are just the cutest baby gift I've seen in a long time.  I made the washcloth cupcakes for a shower similar to these, but these take the cake (no pun intended!)

Pins of the Week...

I have been working like a DOG cleaning my kitchen and organizing like crazy so I can add some pictures of my "after" to my post I've been working on for Operation OrGaNiZaTiOn for this week.  But....I'm not done yet...a few more days!  I want to make sure that while I'm sharing ideas of how to organize and de-clutter that I myself am doing just that and remaining accountable to what I'm sharing.  SO....until then.

Here are my Favorite Pins of the Week

CRAFTASTIC

My kids are DYING for some snow here.   Last year we were up to our eyeballs in snow and this year...NONE!  So I think we'll try this craft.  I know I said I wasn't going to do any until Valentine's because we are working sooo hard on our Valentine's this year, but...this looks like fun!   And, I have all of the supplies except the baby food jars but those I can easily pick up!

(source)

FOR THE HOME

I adore this built in bench in the kitchen.  Maybe someday.  Right now I'd have to do a complete overhaul of my existing kitchen to work this in.   Maybe my husband will give it to me for Valentine's Day...ha.  A girl can dream!

FOR THE KIDDOS

I was so excited to find this one on my friend Danielle's blog last year and so glad to find it again this year on pinterest because I need it now more than ever.  We recently upgraded my son into a booster from the traditional 5-point harness seat and every time he falls asleep he looks like I drugged him because he is totally slumped over in his seat.   I'm starting this project asap!

FASHION FIND

I'm not sure what it is about these VERY expensive socks that I love so much, but they are so darn pretty.  I am admittedly weird about textures in socks so I probably wouldn't even wear them, but they are just too cute not to share.  And if you invest in them...let me know if they are soft!

JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT

Just think this is so cool...a mixed paper journal :)

RECIPES

I haven't tried this one yet, but I plan on picking up the ingredients next week to try it.  I've made something similar in the summer, but it did not have asparagus in it.  I'm hoping my daughter will enjoy this too because tomatoes and asparagus are her 2 favorites and she LOVES cheese...I think I'll add feta.

GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY
