10 Days of Valentine's Day - Day 10

It's finally here...the BIG DAY!

Valentine’s Day

We had a very early morning this morning because my daughter had to be at school early, but we did still start the day with some festivities.    I stayed up last night decorating their doors with some loving messages from my husband and I...

They both loved reading them when they got up.  I gave my husband vague instructions I think because my messages were things like "You are smart!" or "You are a great big sister" and his "You run as fast as a gazelle" or "You give hugs like a furry monkey".  Oh well...the kids thought his were hilarious!

I also decorated the kitchen table with some goodies so they could have a festive breakfast before rushing out the door...

Their little boxes are filled with candy that they love.  We served heart chocolate chip pancakes!

We exchanged a few early presents...flowers for my daughter from my husband...so sweet.  Flowers for me...sweet again.  And this is my favorite.  A homemade cookbook from my son to my husband.  He drew it all and we added blank paper for my husband to write any recipes he might come up with.  A true heartfelt gift.  It's hard to read, but he worked so darn hard on it.

And off they went with their Valentine's in hand.  Oh...their Valentines.  Well my daughter did the store bought (which did come out cute) and this for her teacher...

Highlighters and dry erase markers...what every teacher wants...lol   Since we can't give candy, we went for practical this year.

And my son is all packed up and ready to head to school with his teacher's gifts...

We put them in bigger bags for both boys and girls with some lollies (he can give candy), Valentine's pencils and erasers.  And they are packed and ready to go!

We just finished our cupcakes for the school snack and we are soon on our way to school.

10 Days of Valentine's Day - Day 9

I have some last minute ideas I wanted to share to make your family's start to Valentine's Day "love"ly!   I'm working on a few of my own....many from this that I'll share tomorrow.

I love this idea to make your children feel special from the minute they wake up.   A wall of things you love about  them.  Super easy.  My husband and I are working on ours tonight after everyone is asleep.  What a great way to start their day!

Or maybe a sweet message in lipstick on the mirror of the bathroom...this could be fun for anyone.

I hope that Day 7 gave you tons of ideas and/or printables for your little one's classmates and friends. Today I have some ideas for Valentine's for your child's teacher and some for the love of your life. 

We always try to do a little something special for our teacher's on the holidays and especially at the end of the year.  We've done tons of different things including bookmarks, handmade cards, flowers, note cards...you name it.  But, we cannot give out candy because it is not allowed to be distributed in our school.  So, I searched for ideas without candy, but I'm also going to include a few cute ideas with candy as well.

Without candy....  what teacher couldn't use some new supplies this time of year.   Here's 2 cute takes on the same idea.

And I adore this idea with popcorn.  So creative and could be paired with movie tickets for an end of year gift.  They even have plastic versions of these popcorn containers in the $1 section of Target...we have them for our family movie night!

This is a very creative idea.  We made a similar version a few years back with school supplies for the classroom for Teacher Appreciation Day and might just re-visit it this year.  I never used to take pictures of my presents so I promise to get one and share it this year.  It said things like "you really measure up" with a tape measure, "you are sharp as a tack" with thumbtacks.  You get the idea!

He is writing his name and adding some stickers inside and we are going to include this:

a valentine that's sure to be
a proper work of art.

I've worked on it all morning
so it should be ready soon,
I'd like to slip it on her desk
before this afternoon.

It's colored in with crayons
and it's trimmed with paper lace,

I can't wait to see her face!

We've focused so much on the kid's Valentine's and I wanted to share a few ideas for your own Valentine.  These are all homemade, cheap, but really fun ideas.   I'm the kinda girl that LOVES a homemade and thoughtful gift that shows you were thinking of me over a store-bought any day.  I truly mean that.  I feel like if I want something from the store, I'll buy it, but I can't put a price tag on making me something. 

I sure hope my husband feels the same way...lol
